Curtis Mitchem, DMD

Dr. Curtis Mitchem began his formal education at the University of Illinois, where he graduated from the Colleges of Agriculture and Liberal Arts & Science. As is common with many young adults, Dr. Mitchem explored other career options before he decided to go to dental school.

Fortunately, people and events in his life led him to what he should be doing: taking care of people. But those who come to Dr. Mitchem for help maintaining and improving their smiles are more than just patients. As you'll find when you visit Mitchem Dental, we regard our patients as friends.

A graduate of Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Mitchem returned to his hometown in Champaign, Illinois with his wife Kenna and two sons, Kyle and Clay, to open a general practice. Dr. Mitchem is committed to continuing education and has over 500 postgraduate hours completed. With an emphasis on implant and cosmetic dentistry, the skilled team at Mitchem Dental can meet all your restorative dentistry needs.

Dr. Mitchem has been the dentist for the University of Illinois Athletic Department since 1994 and enjoys the relationships he has had the opportunity to build with many of the student athletes.

Michael Ruffatto, DMD

Michael Ruffatto, DMD

Dr. Ruffatto completed his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University in Alton in June 2007. He previously completed a BS degree in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Originally from Wheeling, Illinois, Dr. Ruffatto has become familiar with the Champaign-Urbana area since moving here in June of 2007. He is eager to practice and service. Dr. Ruffatto is joined in the area by his wife, Dr. Kara Ruffatto, who is a dentist practicing at the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District. The two became parents on August 24, 2009 with the birth of their son, Benjamin Michael.

Dr. Ruffatto has become an Illinois Football fan since coming to Champaign. His other sports loyalties lie with the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.While not at the office, Dr. Ruffatto enjoys spending time outside including biking and hiking. He is also on a Champaign Park District softball team.
